Before
we talk about blindness and its causes, let's understand a little about
how our vision works, and how it helps us to see things. When
we look at an object, the light rays from the object into the eye
through the iris, and reaches the lens through the cornea. Beam
is refracted through the cornea and lens, and refracted rays pass
through the vitreous humor to reach the retina, where they form an
inverted image objects. The
retina is the light-sensitive tissue lining the inner surface of each
eye, and is connected to the brain via the optic nerve. The object image is then transferred to the visual cortex of the brain
via the optic nerve, and then we were able to 'see' objects.
